What's the good news?

The gospel is God’s good news “concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord” (See Romans 1:1-3). The bad news is the whole human race is hopelessly lost and ruined by sins and unrighteousness (See Romans 3:23.) In our lost condition, it is impossible for us to make up for our sins and somehow gain a state of righteousness before a Holy God and His righteous throne. No amount of religion or self-effort will help us measure up to His holy standards. However, to God be the praise! He has intervened on our behalf, and provided a gift of His righteousness which is available for the taking and one that is acceptable to Himself.

This gift of righteousness that God would love to give to each and every person is only available to those who have come to the end of themselves and all of their vain efforts to establish their own righteousness before Him. We see this clearly in Romans 10 where we read about the people of Israel and their failed attempt to get right with God.

“For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”
(Romans 10:3-4 NASB).

This gift of God’s righteousness has been paid for completely by The Lord Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, and His substitutionary death and bloodshed which was accomplished on a Roman cross outside of Jerusalem almost 2000 years ago. Jesus suffered the wrath of God against sin (the bad root) and against sins (the bad fruit) of our fallen sinful condition. He paid the full price, including His own life’s blood, for everyone who will repent (a genuine heartfelt turning from sin) and put their faith (trust) in Him and His finished work. He Himself said “It is finished” after He had endured the wrath of God.

In the third chapter of Romans we read; “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all, and on all who believe.” (Romans 3:21-22)

Absolutely nothing else remains to be done except to repent and believe on Him. The apostle Paul said that he had throughout his entire Christian life been “solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. “

Are you ready to take the two most important steps you could ever take? God is ready to receive you right now if you will turn to Him in sincere repentance and faith. You will experience “the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:7.) King David of Israel said “How blessed is the man whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! How blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit there is no deceit!” Psalm 32:1-2.

The Scripture says “Whoever believes in Him (Jesus Christ) will not be disappointed.” (Romans 10:11) We also testify to this truth and can also confidently declare that you will not be disappointed. Come to Him now to receive His free gift of righteousness and start enjoying the abundant life that He is longing for you to enjoy.
