Jail Ministry

Chapel services are conducted once a month at the Theo Lacy Jail in Orange.  This jail ministry has been ongoing for over 50 years, and it consists of two one-hour meetings on the first Sunday evening of each month.

Inmate attendance at these meetings is voluntary and is conducted in the Theo Lacy chapel.  Attendance averages between 50 and 60 men.  The meetings are conducted under the auspices of the Orange County Jail Ministry who sponsors all the jail services in Orange County and provides the volunteer chaplains who conduct Bible studies and individual prisoner counseling during the week.

The purpose of these meetings is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with men in both singing and speaking.  Most of the men are young, and the majority are fathers.  Many bring Bibles and indicate by this a desire to find a way to change their lives.  At the end of each meeting, men are given an opportunity to receive Christ as Savior.  The men also fill out prayer request cards, which are taken and prayed over by those interested in this work.

The jail team is involved in this ministry requests your prayers at the time of the services at 6:00pm and 7:00pm each first Sunday of the month. For those wishing to participate in this work, please contact John Spence, Tim Boettcher, or Dick Hallmark.
